Frequently asked questions

Getting paid

When does the money reach my account?

Two business days. No trip to the bank, no waiting on the mail, no wondering whether the check was any good — you knew that in seconds.

Do I need a special bank account?

No. Checkdepo works with the business account you already have. Nothing to open, nothing to move, no minimum balance.

Am I paid when the check is taken, or when the funds arrive?

You're paid at acceptance — the same way a card works. The authorization is the payment event. Funds follow on the schedule above.

When checks go bad

What happens if a check bounces?

On the Guaranteed tier, you're made whole. The guarantee covers a check returned for any reason — insufficient funds, closed account, stop payment.

The one thing it doesn't cover is a dispute between you and your customer about the work or the goods. That's a matter between the two of you, not a payment failure.

And on the other tiers?

Every returned check goes into full-service collection at little to no cost to you. Not a chargeback, not a debit against your account — actual recovery work by a licensed collection agency that has been recovering returned checks since 1972.

Most processors hand a returned item back to you and consider the matter closed. We work it.

Can I still be charged back later, like with a card?

No. There is no chargeback mechanism here. A check that comes back is a returned item, and it goes to collection.

How it works day to day

Does my crew need to install an app?

No. They open a link on any phone — the one already in their pocket. Nothing to install, nothing to configure, no accounts to set up for each person.

Can they use their personal phones?

Yes. There's nothing on the phone to protect, because nothing is stored on it.

Do the people taking checks get access to my bank account?

No, and this is the point. Bank apps only let account holders deposit checks, which is why you can't hand mobile deposit to a technician. Checkdepo takes deposit out of the banking app. What your people can do is submit a check. That's the whole surface — no balances, no transfers, no account.

What if my customer's check is no good?

You find out on the spot, before you accept it. That's the difference between checking a check and hoping.

Can a customer pay part of an invoice?

Yes. If the invoice is $1,200 and the check is $500, we take the $500. Your portal shows what was invoiced, what was paid, and what's left, and one click sends a link for the balance.

Does the customer keep their check?

Yes. Nothing gets mailed, deposited, or driven anywhere.

Records and proof

What do I have if a customer disputes a payment?

The check image, the account and routing detail read off it, the amount, and the customer's authorization — with the exact wording they agreed to and the timestamp they agreed at. All of it stays in your portal.

Can I delete a record?

No, and that's deliberate. Payment records and authorization evidence can be archived out of your working list, but they are never destroyed. If a payment is ever questioned, the record is still there.

The business side

Who am I doing business with?

Your agreement is with BioeFunds LLC, which operates Checkdepo. The check authorization behind every decision comes from Check Plus Systems, and returned items are worked by a licensed collection agency. One agreement, one place to call.

What does it cost?

Less than accepting a credit card — on every tier, including the fully guaranteed one. No monthly fee, no minimum, no hardware to buy. You pay when you take a payment.

How long has this been done?

Check authorization is not new, and neither are we. The authorization behind every Checkdepo decision comes from Check Plus Systems, which has been authorizing and recovering checks since 1972. What's new is the phone.
